GENERAL AUSSIE INFORMATION
Grooming Your Aussies
Your puppy will leave here with a bath & nails done. Puppies are bathed with a gentle puppy shampoo. Shampoo left on your puppy’s skin can cause itching or other problems, so make sure you rinse, rinse, rinse. Dry puppy as much as you can with a towel, we use Fresh Pals by Rinse Ace Super Absorbent Microfiber Pet Towel, then brush. Make sure you keep your puppy warm til finished drying. As your pups get older they will need regular grooming. A Slicker brush or a Rake will be the best thing to use on their coats.
I suggest brushing your puppy daily to get them used to it. This is a bonding time for you and your new puppy. Our dogs LOVE personal time of getting brushed. NEVER let your puppy chew on the brush, or run away.

Fresh Pals by Rinse Ace Super Absorbent Microfiber Pet Towel
These towels are great for drying dogs or puppies as it soaks up all the water from their coat. These are about $5.00 at Walmart.

The undercoat rake
My go to brush especially for adults and deshedding. You can get this brush at any pet store including Wal-Mart, or Tractor Supply.

Slicker brush
I use this brush after I have gotten most of the undercoat out. It brings out the shine in their coat.

double side brush
Great brush for introducing puppies to being brushed.
I do not recommend you use any kind of furminator brush. It cuts the coat and could damage it. I do not recommend shaving your double coated dog to the skin but you can go to a groomer and ask for a bath and blow out to get the undercoat out. Talk with your groomer and find the best solution for your dog. It was given a double coat for a reason. If you are still adamant about shaving, at least shave down to 1-1.5", don't shave to the skin as the coat will help protect again insects and the weather (sun).
